Men's Preliminary Round

The Preliminary Round in 1998 Olympic Hockey determined which two countries join Canada, Finland, Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden and the United States in the Final Round.

Teams were divided in to two groups. After a round-robin play the top teams of each group advanced to the Final Round.
